What to do in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer?

By going to the center of the village of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, a few minutes from the Cacharel hotel, you will be in the heart of the capital of the Camargue. In a festive and solemn atmosphere, discover the Saintes-Maries church with the magnificent crypt of Sainte Sara.

Camargue animals

To observe the typical birds of the Camargue, go to the Pont de Gau ornithological park. Marked paths allow you to admire flamingos, harriers, reeds or little egrets.

In the Camargue, the bull is king. Go to a manade to discover the daily life of the gardians or to attend a ferrade. Follow the hiking trails that we will show you to discover the bulls in their natural environment. From May to October, discover the Provencal races, in the arenas around. During these shows, the animal is not badly treated.

Take a stroll with your family or two, the narrow streets of the town of Aigues-Mortes. This town has ramparts built in the 13th century. The abbey church of Saint-Gilles du Gard

In the Middle Ages, this church was the 4th place of pilgrimage in the world. This building is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 12th century, it is still today an unmissable place in the region, you can discover its splendid sculpted facade, its crypt and its spiral staircase.
